Kayaking on Lake Ahémé

Two hours of paddling on calm waters, along the fishing villages of Possotomè.

Lake Ahémé is shallow and rarely rough: it is the most forgiving stretch of water in the country for a first kayak outing.

The route follows the shore and its villages, where fishing and salt-making happen just metres from the water. A break is planned halfway.

Single or double kayaks depending on your group. No previous experience needed.

    Getting set up

    Pick your kayak, adjust, life jacket on, and twenty minutes to find the stroke near the shore.

    Along the villages

    You follow the eastern shore. Fishermen lift their nets metres away, children wave from the pontoons.

    Break on the bank

    A halfway stop in the shade. A word on the fishery and the salt pans.

    Return to the Possotomè water-sports base.

Safety

Life jacket mandatory. An escort stays on the water for the whole outing. The route keeps within fifty metres of the shore. The outing is cancelled in strong wind.

Minimum age: 10.

Being able to swim is recommended but not required.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Less than 24 hours, 50% of the amount is retained. If cancelled for strong wind, the refund is full.
